Description
Two folders containing the papers of Professor J. B. Hellier, mainly consisting of research notes on the history of medical education in Leeds, correspondence, text for speeches, and some published sources.
The first folder is entitled: 'Papers of Prof. J.B. Hellier. I Typescripts (and supporting Notes; Newscuttings; correspondence; miscellaneous). It contains a handlist detailing the contents of the two folders [see LUA MED/8/2/1].
The second folder is entitled: 'Papers of Prof. J.B. Hellier. II Printed Items'.
Biography or history
Professor John Benjamin Hellier (1851-1924) was a student and lecturer of Leeds School of Medicine. He lectured at the Hospital for Women and Children (1889), and became associated with Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Leeds General Infirmary in 1899. He was University Lecturer in Gynaecology under Prof. Charles J. Wright (1904) and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology between 1908 and 1918/19.
