Consists of annual reports and correspondence for the Medical Charitable Society for the West Riding of the County of York.
Biography or history
The Medical Charitable Society for the West Riding of the County of York was established at a meeting on 25 July 1828. The aim of the Society was to set up a relief fund for "Widows and Orphans of Medical Men dying in exigent Circumstances, and for the Benefit of Practitioners in a state of Poverty, being at the same Time incapacitated by Age or bodily Infirmity". The Society was registered as a charity in 1963, and had ceased to exist in 2013.
