The major initial on [*2r] is decorated in red and blue.
Other major initials are supplied in red.
The fore-edge margin of the title page [*1] has been cut, as has the lower margin of [*2], possibly to remove previous marks of ownership.

Bindings
Binding of full pigskin over wooden boards. The upper and lower covers are blind-tooled with an identical design comprising a frame of double fillets with a repeating pattern of stylised foliage around the edges and fleurons among stylised foliage in the central panel. The spine has three raised bands. Written in black ink manuscript directly onto the spine in the first panel are the words: Sermones praedicabiles M. Michaelis de Vngaria. There is further writing beneath, now indistinct. The book has two decorated metal clasps with the catch on the upper board. The leather straps have been replaced and the clasps are not part of the original binding. There is a circular stain on the upper cover. Size: 223 x 160mm. Leaf size: 207 x 145mm.
Provenance
Inscription on the title page [*1r] partially rubbed out, but possibly reading: Henry B.M.[...].
Small blue and white armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
