Two numbers are written at the top left hand corner of the front pastedown. In black ink manuscript: 216. In red pencil manuscript: 212.

Bindings
Binding of full dark brown calf over wooden boards, rebacked. The upper cover is blind-tooled with a frame of double fillets inside which is a panel decorated with 24 circles containing dogs and hares. The lower cover is blind-tooled with a frame of double fillets and a panel containing diagonal fillets surrounded by circles. The patterns on both covers are much worn. The new spine has three raised bands with each panel containing two lines of blind-tooled double fillets. Blind-tooled in the second panel are the words: Sermones Discipuli de Tempore et de Sanctis - Herolt. Blind-tooled at the base of the spine are the words: Cologne U. Zell c. 1474. In the third panel is the Brotherton Collection stamp in gold. There is evidence of metal furniture having once been attached to both the upper and lower boards in the centre and at the four corners of each filleted panel. On the lower board are the remains of two clasps but there is no evidence of catches on the upper board. Written in
black ink manuscript on the fore-edge is a number: R9. Size: 305 x 230mm. Leaf size: 292 x 212mm.
