Early inscriptions in black ink manuscript and black decorated with red on a1r, now indistrinct.


Inscription in black ink manuscript, seventeenth-century, on a1r: Jodocus […] Sacellanus S. Brigidae emit hunc librum s. Marcis A[nn]o 1642 in ambitu[m] Minor[um].


Notes in black ink manuscript, nineteenth-century, at the top of the front pastedown giving details of the edition.


Two numbers are written at the top left hand corner of the front pastedown. In black ink manuscript: 70. In red pencil manuscript: 205.


Major initials supplied in red, the larger ones decorated.


Capital strokes and paragraph markers supplied in red.

Bindings


Nineteenth-century binding of marbled paper over pasteboard. The marbed paper features the spot pattern in green, brown and cream. At the top of the smooth spine is a blue paper label, partially damaged. Written on the label in black ink manuscript are the words: [...]rmi [P]ostilla. Coloniae Ulricus Zell. 1482. Written on the fore-edge in black ink manuscript is the number R12. There are brown tabs on the fore-edge marking sections of the text. Size: 280 x 228mm. Leaf size: 270 x 207mm.

Book label of Georgius Kloss, M.D. Francofurti ad Moenum on the front pastedown. Georg Kloss's library was disposed of by Sotheby's in 1835.

Coloured armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.

Georg Franz Burkhard Kloss was a former owner of three incunabula (books printed in Europe before 1501) kept in Special Collections in the Brotherton Library at the University of Leeds. The books contain the works of the Roman poet Ovid and were printed by Stephanus Coralllus in Parma in 1477.
