Leather bound note-book with two metal clasps. Text on ff. 140v to 150 inverted; ff. 114v and 140r blank.

Biography or history

John Cowell (fl. 1826) was apparently a Quaker. See Sotheby's catalogue in loco.

Provenance

Given by John Cowell to his daughter, Sarah, 21st July 1839 and apparently still in her possession in 1853 (cf. f. 2v).
