Description
Volume entitled: 'Surgical cases of interest Ernest W Spink Novr 1. 1892' in ink on the flyleaf.
Contains 71 monochrome photographs of patients admitted to the Leeds General Infirmary, depicting various medical conditions. There are also some x-ray images. The photographs are usually attached to each page with brief accompanying notes on the case, sometimes dated.
The first pages of volume contain notes on a detailed patient case history, dated 22 Sep 1892, with an accompanying photograph. There are an additional 7 pages of notes beginning from the back of the volume (inverted), entitled on the back flyleaf: 'Notes on Surgery January 1. 1895'.
Biography or history
Ernest William Spink was born in September 1871 in Drax in Yorkshire and graduated MB ChB from the University of Leeds in 1905.
Provenance
Transferred from the University of Leeds Medical Library in 1981. Previously catalogued under the artificial collection SC MS Case notes.
Catalogued as part of the Wellcome Trust-funded Medical Collections Project (2015-2018).

Physical and technical conditions
124 ff. Volume in poor condition, paper is fragile and brittle. Binding is damaged and spine cover missing. Has many loose pages, some with tears. Covers are worn.
