Description
Small, bound, paginated notebook, entitled in the inside cover: 'Note Book VI Notes on Parisian Hospitals Jany 26. 1856. T. Pridgin Teale - Place de l'Ecole de Medicine, no. 23'
Contains notes from a trip to Paris between January and March 1856 to visit various hospitals in the city. Teale records his observations on practices at each hospital, and details of patient cases treated. Notes are in pencil and ink, with hand-drawn illustrations throughout.
There is an alphabetical index at the beginning of the volume, and a list of instruments at the back.
Biography or history
Thomas Pridgin Teale (1831-1923), FRS, was a surgeon and public health reformer from Leeds.
