Description

The sheets of verse are in lieu of Christmas cards, and are addressed by W.R. Childe in his hand to Bonamy and Valentine Dobrée, 1945 and 1950. The acknowledgement card, dated 12 January 1953 and sent by Mr and Mrs Godfrey Childe, also contains a photograph of W.R. Childe

Biography or history

Wilfred Rowland Childe (1890-1952), the English Catholic poet and lecturer in English literature at the University of Leeds from 1922. For fuller details of his life and achievements, see Who was who, Vol.5.
