Bound album so titled. Made up of the following:


1) Cuttings/print extracts - (pg1 -33) mainly illustrations/engravings of Gypsy/Traveller related subjects including but not limited to; Spanish, British, Hungarian Gypsies/Travellers; fortune-telling; Margaret Finch (Norwood Gypsies) and Bampfylde Moore Carew.


2) Playbills advertising plays referencing Gypsies/Travellers (pg 34-58)


3) Enclosed at the end is a detached album page with playbill and a loose print entitled, " Famille tsigane des montagnes du Matra."

Provenance

Although the (1962) catalogue stated that these were, "material collected by Mrs McGrigor Phillips, " these may have been compiled by a Rare Book dealer and bought by DUR, [see related objects].

Physical and technical conditions

Many of the play bills are of a large size and have been folded up to fit the pages of the album. The paper is quite thin so care is needed when folding them out/back up.
