Extra-illustrated volume with added plates, portraits, engravings, and emblazoned coats of arms on pages, placed in box with spine title: 'Lupset, The Heath, Sharlston, and Ackton. Illustrated'. Bound in full brown morocco leather with gilt-tooled botanical decoration and coat of arms in blue, green and red leather at the centre of front and back boards. Blue silk moire endpapers. Inscribed: 'Edmund Waterton [...] D. Gaskell. 1852 [?], and with Edmund Waterton's bookplate on the next leaf. The volume has an added frontispiece of Daniel Gaskell, and a letter by him addressed to G.D. Tomlinson, dated 23 September 1873, which has been mounted on the leaf preceding his frontispiece. With an added leaf before Gaskel's letter with text on the recto printed in red and black reading: 'The Arms in this book were collected and emblazoned by G.D. Tomlinson. Huddersfield. 1877' and a 7-page 'Index of Arms' printed in red and black at end of volume. Inserted: letter inside envelope written on paper
from the Friends of the National Libraries c/o The British Museum and dated March 10 [1953] addressed to Mr. [Charles] Clay. The letter concerns the receipt of £20 for the purchase of the present volume. Also, a note, dated 11 March 1953, written by Charles Clay and addressed to Miss Foster, concerning the acquisition of the volume by the YAS
