Description

(1894-) (Tapes 1349-1350/ Transcripts). Private, 7th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters; Describes social conditions in pre War London; Enlisted in 1915, to France in Aug; Buried alive in his first stint in the trenches; To Ireland in 1916 and was involved in the fighting in Dublin; Returned to France and details the task of a sniper including an incident where he and his spotter shot at a German officer in a latrine; Captured at Bullecourt, he describes his experiences as a POW in Germany.
