Description

(1888-) (Tape 373/ Transcript). 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Canadian Field Ambulance/6th/3rd Battalion, Royal Naval Division/Royal Engineers; Military Cross; Enlisted in Canada in 1914 and eventually to Belgium, via Kent, in May 1915; Recalls vividly his experiences in Ypres with his ambulance and bringing in the wounded from the Front; Joined the RND in 1916 being trained in Ireland; Commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1917 and as a result of his actions on July 30th 1917, 3rd Battle of Ypres, was awarded the Military Cross.
