Description

(Jack) (1897-) (Tape 980/Summary). Private, 1st/7th & 1st/6th Battalions, West Yorkshire Regiment; Brief description of his Service including anti Semitism which caused him to change his forename; To France early 1917 , recalling his first action at Arras; Describes falling into deep mud at Passchendaele when marching to the Front and had toextricate himself as no one would stop to help him; Ironically, upon reaching his Section, he found that most had been killed by enemy shellfire; Eventually medically discharged.
