With added engraved title page, with title "Some yeares travels into Africa & Asia the great. Especially describing the famous empires of Persia and Industant. As also divers other kingdoms in the orientall Indies, and I'les adjacent." Edition statement: "The third edition further inlarged". Statement of responsibility: "By Sr. Tho. Herbert Bart." Imprint: "London: printed in the yeare 1677". The engraved title page has been included in the number of plates.


Contains dedication from the author to Philip Herbert, Earl of Pembroke (1584-1650).


Unnumbered preliminary pages include title-page leaf, two-page dedication, two pages of verses dedicated to the author. Unnumbered pages at end of volume include eighteen-page index and leaf bearing vertical half-title on verso: "Herbert's Travels."


Woodcut initials.


Numerous engraved illustrations, including maps, views of cities and animals, printed within the text. Engraved plate entitled "Rvines of Persæpolis" is signed "W. Hollar fecit 1663".
