Description

Male and female informant responses to a questionnaire used by the collector as part of his sociolinguistic inquiry in Leeds. For the purposes of data collection, the city was divided into a number of geographical cells, and each informants' cell number is announced ahead of their recorded answers. The collector's field recording method involved starting and stopping the tape before and after the answer to each of the questionnaire's seventy-one questions. Free conversation with each informant is recorded after the completion of the questionnaire. The dates when the recordings were made is not known.
