Provenance

The tape box states that this took place in Bamford, but from what Mr. Eliot says during the interview it is clear he lives five miles from this village. Further information leads to the reasonable conclusion that at the time of the interview he was living in or near the hamlet of Derwent, north-west of Bamford. This was his birthplace. The majority of the original village was abandoned to make way for the flooding of the valley in which it was situated, and the creation of Ladybower Reservoir. This was completed in 1945.
