[Collector announcement]; John Teare, recorded in Andreas; talks about the use of horses in farming; tractors and farm mechanisation; thatched roofs (houses) and the cost of maintenance; comments on local farmers; tailoring, with reference to Jedburgh tweed; local farmer [female contributes]; comments on the year's crop of potatoes and prices (affected by bad weather); discuss where the collector has visited on the Isle of Man, and the people he has seen; buying cows/land; informant's working life.
John Teare continues with talk of the tailoring business and selling suits; his standing in the local community, and relationship with other people; reference to a [Social/Mens'] club.
