Description
Frank Weatherill (cello), Mr. Jones (violin) and Mary ? (piano), recorded in Danby [date not known]; play a number of instrumental tunes, many unidentified and some repeated following adjustments to the recording level. Mr. Jones announces and plays a hiking tune, 'York Heath March' [composed by Frank Weatherill], and a hymn tune, 'Wanderer', composed by a Mrs. Hemsley [both fiddle solos]; ?Peter Woods plays an unidentified tune on the piano [twice]; ?Peter Woods and Frank Weatherill discuss tunes from an unidentified book; ?Peter Woods plays four unidentified tunes; Frank Weatherill, Mr. Jones and Mary play seven tunes, including 'Bonny Hawthorn' and 'Three Jolly Fishermen'; Frank Weatherill sings 'Faithful Sailor Boy', with piano accompaniment. Unidentified male announces a recording of Stape Silver Band playing seven tunes composed by Frank Weatherill, and arranged for brass by Charles A. Cooper. The recording was made at Castleton Show on the 12 September 1970. Two of the seven tunes are recorded on Track Two of the tape.
Unidentified tunes 6 and 7, continued from Track One; followed by [Male announcer and announcement, as for Track One - duplicate of the Castleton recording on Track One]; six tunes announced, 'Cowl Bank', 'South View', four dance tunes, 'Woodbine Polka', 'Poplar Waltz', 'York Heath March' and 'Swinging in the Moonlight Waltz'.
