[Collector announcement]; George Green, recorded in Haddenham on the 28 July 1975. A second male is also present, who asks some questions and provides general information. Talk of a local tale teller; agricultural labouring - working day, wages (double pay during harvest), beer; working with farm horses; anecdotes re. drinking, selling cattle at Ely market; joining the Army; health; family sizes; (cost of) clothing; pig keeping; corn growing in a communal field; gleaning; local water supply; Haddenham malt houses; brewing. [Collector announcement]; Henry Hawes of Haddenham, recorded on the 28 July 1975. Second male, as for the George Green interview, is present. Talk of living in Haddenham; farm work with uncle; pub owned by aunt and then by Mr. Hawes; school; price of beer and tobacco; pub rental; joining the Armyaged eighteen. [Tr. 6]
[Collector announcement]; Margaret Ransom, recorded in Haddenham on the 29 July 1975; talks about her family; jobs as a child, including fruit picking; working in service in the village and in Cambridge; marriage and family; children's games; harvest time and Hawky Supper (no supper in Haddenham); introduction of a Harvest Supper into the village by the vicar; the village hall; housing; drinking/washing water; domestic lighting and cooking arrangements; brick ovens; gleaning. [Collector announcement]; Arthur Markwell, recorded in Haddenham on the 29 July 1975; talks about schooling; leaving at thirteen to work with his father; gardener's boy at Wilburton Manor - wages and working hours/days; market gardening - growing chrysanthemums and tomatoes; fruit growing; first car in Haddenham; farm horses; agricultural implements and machinery; blacksmiths; ploughing with horses - number/position of horses varied depending on the condition of the soil.
