Description
Arnold Woodley, recorded at home in Bampton, talks about Bampton Mummers and his involvement with them since the early 1970s; revival of the team by Ted Hunt; AW's father in the team, pre-World War One; AW asked to gather players, and then to organise the performances; performing on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, knocking on doors unannounced; financial need of the mummers in the past - compares the morris dancers in Headington; discusses photographs of mummers; talks about learning lines, and the recitation of lines by old members in pubs, picked up by AW as a youngster; the recording of words, and changes to the play text.
