[Collector announcement]; John White, Ralph Brown and Joe Sanderson, recorded in conversation at John White's house in Ugthorpe. Talk of Jack Gallon; winning the handicap; prize winning quoit team members singing songs at the Quoits Supper (also talk of dominoes and food at this event); quoits matches - social aspect, inter-generational, Handicap and Individual; songs sung at the supper; women at the supper; [?JW's son] Andrew enters - some talk of his quoits playing; discussion of farms and farming in the Ugthorpe area; changes in farming practices; each talks about their own farm and land use; comments on the songs and other singers at the Quoits Supper.
All discuss what makes a good song; singing in other villages ( Sleights and Lealholm); pub singing and getting order; quoits matches and singing at Beck Hole (against Fylingthorpe); passing the gallon jug around the pub; Ugthorpe village community and the influx of outsiders; the village church and schools; the future for the Quoits Supper and quoit playing; the problem of pitch ownership.
