[Collector announcement]; Jim Wilkinson, recorded at home in Tranmire; gives biographical details and talks about his early singing experiences in the area; working life - forestry, farming and for a potash mining company; local Christmas traditions; thoughts on his current workplace (potash mining) and the union, working conditions, company details ( Cleveland Potash Limited), and describes shift work; describes his farm and other previous jobs; JW's family; [last ten minutes of this side inaudible due to sticky tape squeal].


[First fourteen minutes inaudible due to sticky tape squeal]; JW talks about singing at Stockton Folk Club; George Davies' version of 'Farmer's Boy' [intermittent tape squeal]; sings 'T' Owd Sow'; talks about Cleethorpes Folk Festival; discusses local singers; sings 'Willie Went to Westerdale' and discusses the words and the man he learned it from; learning songs; the singer George White.
