Mrs. W. sings 'My Grandfather's Clock', 'Farmer's Boy' and one verse of 'Springtime in the Rockies'; talks about family singing when young, making their own entertainment, parents' and family's musical abilities; Castle Houses farm [?home]; evening/Christmas singing; Sankey hymn book; Methodism and Catholicism locally; church going; women's involvement in the harvest; daughter writing a book on Danby Parish customs and traditions; farming and Mrs. W's responsibilities as a girl; modern day changes - children moving away, not helping on the farms; changes in the area - newcomers from Teeside, housing and prices; changes in Danby; Mrs. W's children; schooling and improvements in education; the coming of electricity; transport improvements; mechanisation on the farm and changes in employment.
