Description

[Collector announcement]; Raymond Hayes, recorded at home in Hutton-le-Hole; talks about living in the village; his time away and life during World War Two (air raids); his MBE for services to archaeology; own songs composed on an archaeological theme; playing in a dance band for square dances; archaeological work in the 1960s; views on Hutton village, past and present; social dances in the school and village hall; local families, singing and concerts; Pickering School and provision of musical instruments; brass bands - Dr. Sutcliffe-Smith's interviews with band leaders and conductors; Frank Weatherill; playing the piano and the ukulele.
