William Hart, recorded at home in Wilton by Tony Green [?daughter and son-in-law, Ray Bennett and Mrs. Ray Bennett, also present]. Sings 'Out in the Wild World'; talks about learning tunes from his father and grandfather (never written down); own song composition, 'We're Only Two Boys from the North'; working in ironstone mines in the Guisborough area; working with his father in drift mines; first job at thirteen - farm work, for five years (Milk Boy/Thirdy); work on the local council; mine working conditions - clothing, organisation of teams, splitting rock, pay, hours of work, mine sizes, management; describes ?Hester mine and working the face; Durham miners at Hester; horses; mine employees; places mentioned in WH's song; sings 'The Day I Left Old Ireland', 'Patsy Fagan' and 'Where Did You Get that Hat?'
