Ruby Ling, recorded at home in Snape on the 9 September 1974; sings 'Granny's Song at Twilight', 'You Forgot to Remember', 'When You Played the Organ', 'When You're Feeling Blue', 'By the Waterfall', 'Now Once We Went to Margate', 'I Married a Wife', 'The Little Old Mill', 'I Want to be Happy', 'Vagabond Lover', 'God Send You Back to Me', 'Let the Great Big World Keep Turning'.
Sings 'Peggy O' Neal', 'When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver', 'Isle of Capri', 'Shut that Door', 'There's a Laughter of Spring'. [Tr. 1]. Conclusion of session which starts on tapes LAVC/SRE/A363r and LAVC/SRE/A364r.
Ruby Ling, recorded at home on 11 September 1974, sings 'If You Ever Go Across the Sea to Ireland'; sings song about her employer from when in service, and talks about working in service - hours, friends; biographical details; family, occupations and singing; reference to a Mrs. Howell who knows lots of old songs; informant's early life in Iken, Aldeburgh and Aldringham; tenant farming; stone picking; food; farm work as a child (potato picking, driving cart, cows, tending goats); soldiers billeted in Aldeburgh during World War One; Zeppelin crash; siblings; education; rabbits; father working on the Wentworth Estate at Aldeburgh.
