Description

Bob Hart, recorded in Snape [?in the collector's home], talks about his family; experience of World War One, war injuries, hospitalisation in Cambridge and Sidcup, writing poetry, fellow patients, including Harry Smythe; enlisting in the Army in 1914, uniform, based in France - fears, memories, comradeship; recites his own poem.


Sings 'All Jolly Fellows Who Follow the Plough', learned from uncle who used to sing it while he was ploughing; songs sung at school; discusses and then sings 'Barbara Allen', where learned and age of versions; sings 'Bold William Taylor', and talks of the age of songs including 'Barbara Allen'; sings [ 'As I Strolled Out to Aylesbury'] - learned while working on fishing boats, sung in pubs; talk of other singers; sings chorus of 'Wheel Your P'rambulator'; reference to Mr. Austin and Mr. Webb recorded on LP disc with informant; thoughts on song ownership, choice of song to sing in public; audiences; sings 'Comrades'.
