Description
Compilation of field recordings made in the North East of England, comprising examples of Northumbrian small-pipes playing, some with fiddle and whistle accompaniment. The tunes have not been identified, but are mainly hornpipes and slow airs. Conversation in between tunes concerns the types of tunes played, and playing technique. The players are Joe Hutton, Billy Pigg, Forster Charlton, John Doonan, Tom Clough, Jim Rutherford and Jack Armstrong.
