'Glen Allan'; learning tunes from books; tune tempi; preference for playing with accompanist; discusses tunes 'Heroes of Glencoe'and 'Plains of Boyd'; playing technique; JH's tutor George Armstrong; tune notation; plays a hornpipe by Mary Newton; plays 'Memories' by Tom Clough; plays 'Ash Grove' (variation) from a Jimmy Shand 78 record; talk of Tom Clough and the Clough family; JH's playing style; plays Irish hornpipe; differences between Irish and Northumbrian hornpipes.
