James Cook, recorded at home in Maybole on 2 April 1974. Conversation re. fishing and village life; fishermen from Maidens selling fish; occupational folklore re. red-haired women; village community; nicknames; local families; line fishing (seasonal); mussel bait and women baiting lines; grandfather a boatbuilder; making and mending nets; wife's family; nicknames; entertainment - music and dance, village concerts with guest artists from Ayr; village character; salmon poaching; comments on fishing families.
