Harry Slack, recorded in his home in Leeds. Brief reference to singing style (adornment); sings and then discusses 'Uncle Dan McCann', learned from parents; sings 'Said Meself to Herself' and explains the story, learned from parents as a child; talks about singing/dancing at home in Ireland - community event in parents' kitchen (dance house), stopped with the coming of Dance Halls; sings 'The Tune that Came Out' (includes some lilting); discusses lilting and gives example (jig and a reel; hornpipe); sings [ 'The Bard of Armagh']; discuss the shillelagh (wooden club, used as a weapon); discuss song repertoire, mainly Come all ye songs; sings song from Kerry [?Golden Wedding]; sings fragment [?of Banks of the Lee] (mother's favourite); reference to father singing 'All Around my Hat'; sings 'Old Skibereen' (song of the Great Famine); talks about coming to England in 1930; memories of Ireland - food, entertainment (Dance Halls), singing/dancing competitions, jazzing; Irish music and current
