Description

'A People's Carol', produced by Ian Russell and Terry Gifford, and broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield on 26 December 1971. Combines extracts from field recordings of carol singing in pubs, with spoken contributions from informants talking about the local carolling tradition. The informants are Jack Couldwell, Mina Dyson and Martin Flannery. In addition to the group singing, the programme includes Clifford Jamessinging 'Christmas Tree'.
