Description

Ernest Dyson and his wife Mina Dyson, recorded in their home in Stannington, Sheffield. Discussion of local carols in Sheffield - names of carols and localities to which they refer; Stannington brass bands; village musicians; carol composers; describe carolling tradition in Stannington - composing, texts and tunes; bands touring village on Christmas and Boxing days; collection of carols in book form by Fred Morris; plays 'Back Lane'; learning carols as a child.
