Mrs. Blackburn talks about her work in the Leeds tailoring industry: Parents' occupations; sewing from childhood; first job - ladies' dress factory in Woodhouse Lane - machinist, female boss; next job at quilted clothing factory; left to have first child, then some work from home, part-time hours, balancing work with childcare; redundancy - company training schemes, government grants; piece work; working conditions; social cliques; women's Trade Union involvement compared with men's; employers'/bosses' attitudes; singing whilst working; age of female workers; practical jokes and rites of passage - dressing bride-to-be, birthdays, cakes and sweets; support/help of husband; whole families working in the same trade; perceptions of tailoring as career for women; set-up of machines, works do; conversation between collector [?and Mrs. Blackburn], ?recorded in a factory, re. the collector's university course; printing fabric.
