[Collector announcement: date, informant's name]; Arthur Randell, molecatcher (of Coldham, Cambridgeshire), describes the mole's physical appearance, diet and habitat; weatherlore - if the mole is burrowing, frost is going; nesting; young moles; catching moles with his father on the banks of the River Ouse (between [King's] Lynn and Denver); checking and setting traps on his own; molecatching September-April; harvest work when not molecatching, making bands to tie sheaves of corn; molehills; ordering poison and baiting worms. [Tr. 3]; mole traps - describes his father making his own; skinning moles; 2d - 2s 6d price for skins; molecatching a dying trade; lists molecatchers of past in and around Ely/King's Lynn area.
