[Collector announcement - informant collector's grandmother]; Alice Payne 's recollections of Christmas in Shropshire - preparations, including collecting holly; presents; food (Christmas pudding, cake, mincemeat); going to church in Ludlow; carol singing on Christmas Eve (with swede lantern); Christmas Day at home - carol singing; father at work on farm on Christmas Day and Boxing Day; belief in Father Christmas (until aged 8); seeing Father Christmas outside shops in Shrewsbury; thoughts on present-day Christmas; presents bought for her children (always dolls for girls), new clothes; music and games organised by son-in-law; Christmas during World War Two (Christmas Club, paid into in West Bromwich).
