Description

Ann Fowell, recorded in Abbots Bromley on the 10 December 1975 ; talks about the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance - the whereabouts of the whip seen in a photograph of the Hobby Horse; husband, James Fowell, joining the dance team after the second war; horns kept in the village church; costumes worn; music - tunes played; la-las Lady Bagot's tune; pubs in Abbots Bromley; dancing in the street; dancing at Dapple Heath; collecting money; Fair and amusements; dance technique; team dancers met at local pub - sort of Men's Club; informant's biographical details, and details of the Fowell family. Richard Hollins and his son, Ken Hollins, recorded on the 11 December 1975; recollect the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance: first remembrance from 1901; relates chain of events on the day of the dance; dance tunes played; route of the dance, including dancing at Admaston, Blythe Field Hall, Newton, Dapple Heath and Bagot's Bromley; reference to the Bagot family estate and Blythe Field Hall; dance team members.
