Description
Ms. map of Yorkshire showing the Stead Line (1906), and Sheard Line (1945), both markers considered to locate the boundary between the dialects of Northern England and the North Midlands. The Stead line is based on the investigations of dialectologist Richard Stead, and the Sheard line on those of dialectologist J. A. Sheard. The map was compiled by Fritz Röhrer in 1950.
