Description
Harold Orton in the Survey of English Dialects (SED) editorial room at the University of Leeds, with three members of the SED editorial team including (clockwise from Orton) Philip Tilling, Graham Nixon and an unidentified female editorial team member. SED fieldwork response books can be seen in the centre of the desks. Editorial sheets in various stages are laid out on the desks. Large experimental word maps are visible in the background. The photograph may have been taken for publicity purposes.
