Description

Copy of a photograph dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century, of a group of hired farmworkers on a farm in Thixendale (North Yorkshire). These were men who were hired annually to board at the farmhouse. The men in this photograph are mostly mature adults males, suggesting that the farm they were working on was big enough to pay them the higher wages demanded by older men.
