Description
Copy of a photograph dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century, of a hired lad with a two-horse team in fields at Thixendale (North Yorkshire). The horses are harnessed to a Cambridge Roll. The boy wears dress typical of East Riding farm labourers, with corduroy bell-bottoms (often tied at the knee) and a double-breasted waistcoat or small jacket. (Although Thixendale is now situated in North Yorkshire, it lies close to the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding.)
