Description
Three fishermen demonstrating the use of the tap, in ropemaking using cast-iron ropemaking devices, Low Bells Shielon the River Tweed, near West Ord (Northumberland) (as pictured in LAVC/PHO/P1227 and LAVC/PHO/P1228-1229). The tap travels along the rope towards the first, three-hooked tool, as the rope is laid against the lay of the strands. The rope is made from old (salmon) fishing nets. Mounted on Photo File card. With typed note.
