This file contains a photocopy of a preliminary version of a paper which examines variations in the nuclear peaks of underlying short vowel sounds in the English of the Southern United States, based on fieldwork collected from an informant from San Antonio, Texas. This includes tabular data on all output variants of underlying short vowels, and all output variants of underlying short vowels before alveolar and alveopalatial obstruents and liquids; and Koenig scale diagrams showing partial vowel loop, and partial vowel loop displaying liquids.
