Description

This file contains a photocopy of a typed paper, accompanied by an ms. title-page with contact details, on guisers in North Northumberland. This includes the typed text of a guisers' play performed at a farm on the River Tweed, ca. Christmas 1900 or 1901, related from memory by a female associate of Mr. Johnson; and a summary of supporting evidence from Florence M. McNeill's 'The Silver Bough' (Glasgow: W. Mclellan, 1957-1968), and Christina Hole's 'English Custom and Usage' (London: Batsford, 1950 (3rd ed.)).
