Description
This file contains ms. responses to Ingemar Liman's survey questionnaire on the practice and terminology of cattle and sheep grazing on hill pastures in the Yorkshire Dales. The responses come largely from the area around Skipton. Of the five responses in the file, one includes the answers to the questionnaire on a copy of the actual questionnaire as it was sent out, and four consist of longer ms. answers and accounts of hill-farming.
The file also includes a partial ms. list by Liman of additional information included in the response from Charles V. Horner of Conistone. This includes general information on farm life in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, and a reference to oatcake-making.
File arranged as found.
