Description

This file contains responses, mainly from Yorkshire residents, to an appeal by the Yorkshire Dialect Society for dialect words for left-handed. The appeal was printed in the 'Daily Mail', the 'Yorkshire Evening Post', the 'Huddersfield Examiner' and possibly some other local newspapers. Responses are dated March-June 1956, and are addressed to the Society care of the School of English Language and Medieval Literature, University of Leeds. A number of the responses are labelled in ms., Too Vague.
