This file contains items written and collected by James Walton on horn-blowing customs, mostly relating to Yorkshire. This includes an article by Walton on horn-blowing published in the 'Newcastle Weekly Chronicle' (24 June 1938); an ms. diagram and a black and white postcard print of the Bradford horn, and related printed ephemera; printed ephemera on, and black and white photographic and postcard prints of, the Ripon horn; a letter from Walton published in the 'Leeds Mercury' (29 April 1939); typed notes on horn-blowing customs; an article by J. R. D. from the 'Yorkshire Evening Post' (5 April 1938) on the Bainbridge horn-blower; a typed copy of the song 'The Hirlas Horn'; typed notes on horn-blowing in Pudsey; and an ms. colour illustration of a male in medieval garments drinking from a large horn.
