Description
M.A. study of the English and Welsh dialects spoken in Pumpsaint ( Carmarthenshire, South Wales), based on interviews with three informants. The Introduction gives background information on bilingualism in Pumpsaint, and the collection and presentation of the data, with further chapters describing the sounds in the Welsh and English dialects of the village (consonants and vowels), and allophonic variations in the two dialects. Allophonic transcriptions (Welsh and English) of two passages taken from the fieldwork interviews, and English and Welsh Word Lists, are also included.
