Description
Volume one of this Ph.D. comprises an introduction and methodology chapter, outlining previous work in the field, current method and a preliminary morphology, with notes on terminology. The following chapter describes in detail the instruments, classified by the collector as types A-E, with also a summary and section on the typology chosen. Volume Two, The Census, contains photographs and data relating to instrument types A-D. Volume Three contains photographs and data for instruments type E, with appendices on informants, itinerary, recording methods, a list of instruments, summary tables, an index to accompany the tape recorded examples and suggestions for further research.
